New CSLB Web Feature Lets You Check a Contractor’s License Right from Your Mobile Device
SACRAMENTO —Checking the status of a contractor’s license is easier than ever on your personal mobile device. A new Internet feature launched by the Contractors State License Board (CSLB) this week gives you quick access to the most sought after information like contractor licenses, office locations, and signing up for e-mail alerts. Information is only a click away and easy to read on smaller mobile device screens at www.cslb.ca.gov. This feature also enables instant access to information on how to file a complaint with CSLB and report unlicensed activity.
"Anyone who uses the mobile-friendly site will notice the functions are much easier to navigate and cut down on the time it takes to get the information you need," said Registrar Steve Sands. "We developed the feature to help meet our goal of providing immediate information to consumers and contractors in the most cost-effective manner."
From CSLB’s mobile home page, users can also sign up to follow CSLB on Twitter and Facebook to keep up on the latest news and consumer tips about the building and construction industry.
The Contractors State License Board operates under the umbrella of the California Department of Consumer Affairs. More information and publications about hiring contractors are available on the CSLB website or by calling 800-321-CSLB (2752). You can also sign up for CSLB e-mail alerts at www.cslb.ca.gov. CSLB licenses and regulates California's more than 300,000 contractors, and is regarded as one of the leading consumer protection agencies in the United States. In fiscal year 2009-10, CSLB helped recover nearly $42 million in ordered restitution for consumers.
