Contractors State License Board Announces Appointments of Three New Board Members
SACRAMENTO — The Contractors State License Board (CSLB) is pleased to announce the appointment of three new public members. Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and Assembly Speaker Fabian Núñez made the appointments in recent weeks.
On December 2, 2004, Assembly Speaker Nuñez announced the appointment of John O'Rourke of Novato to the Board. Mr. O'Rourke is Business Manager/Financial Secretary for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 6 and has served in that position since 1999. The 25-year IBEW member has earned his Journeyman Inside Wireman Certificate. This is the second time Mr. O'Rourke's has served as a Board member. Governor Gray Davis appointed him in September 2001.
On February 1, 2005, Governor Schwarzenegger made two appointments to the Board. Louise Kirkbride of Monte Sereno founded and served as Chief Executive Officer of Broad Daylight, a company that facilitated communications between businesses and their customers through the Internet. Previously, she founded Answer Systems, a company designed to improve businesses-customer communications through help-desk automation. Ms. Kirkbride earned bachelor's and master's degrees in electrical engineering from the California Institute of Technology, where she was a member of the school's first class that included women. She currently serves as a Trustee of CalTech.
Donald Zampa, 45, of Benicia has worked for Iron Workers Union Local 378 since 1978. He currently serves as Business Manager. Mr. Zampa comes from a family with a long history in the construction industry. The United States newest major suspension bridge, the Al Zampa Memorial Bridge, which crosses the Carquinez Strait in the San Francisco Bay Area, is named after Mr. Zampa's grandfather. Alfred Zampa was an ironworker who survived a fall from the Golden Gate Bridge during its construction back in the 1930's.
Both Ms. Kirkbride and Mr. Zampa's appointments require Senate confirmation
