Step 3: After you Submit the Application

This step explains what you should expect upon submitting your application.

Will the CSLB acknowledge receipt of my application?

Yes, CSLB will send you a letter of acknowledgment which will include an application receipt number. If you check on the status of your application you must refer to your application receipt number.

Important IMPORTANT - May I begin working as a home improvement salesman as soon as I have submitted my registration application and fee to the CSLB?

No. You must wait until your HIS registration number is issued by the CSLB.

How long will it take to become registered?

The time required to process and issue a Home Improvement Salesperson registration number depends on the workload and staffing levels at the time an application is submitted.

Laws and Regulations LAWS AND REGULATIONS - It is illegal to begin working as a Home Improvement Salesperson before your application has been reviewed and an HIS registration number has been issued.
